OUR STORY

How Did We Start?

The story of Taboocha began in 2014 when sisters Lisa and Patricia started experimenting with the wild world of kombucha as their go-to home remedy for health fix-ups.

Lisa was suffering from poor digestion and her friend taught her how to make kombucha. It was a realisation that they could help others with the same case as hers.

Lisa, Pat & Taboo

At about the same time, they adopted a tricolored mongrel puppy, now famously and lovingly known as Taboo, the furry face behind the label.

With pawful support from Taboo, what started as a home-brew project became an aspiration to develop a brand which provides natural, functional and flavorful beverages to the wider local community.

Within a few years, Taboocha has made its journey from kitchen to local markets, bottles to kegs, making friendly appearances at your neighbourly cafes, restaurants and shops, while spreading the love for local sustainable growth.

WHY TABOOCHA?

Locally Crafted

Taboocha is the first kombucha brewery in Hong Kong. Unlike many imported brands, Taboocha is made with love by true locals who use ingredients such as ginger, goji berries, chrysanthemum, osmanthus and lychee to produce flavors that suit the local market.

Organic & 100% Real Ingredients

We insist on using organic tea leaves and organic raw cane sugar, 100% fresh and mostly local ingredients - fresh herbs, spices, cold pressed juices, made in our facility with no antiseptic, extract nor flavoring.

Vegan & Raw

Taboocha is made using 100% plant-based ingredients. We do not pasteurise our kombucha as it helps to ensure that healthy probiotics in our drinks are preserved raw and alive with active probiotics for healthy digestion.

Animal & Earth Friendly

Caring for our ruff-ly companions and all living creatures at large, Taboocha donates $1 to dog charities for every returned bottle, playing a small part in environmental and animal rights protection.

SUSTAINABILITY

Organic & Fair Trade Ingredients

We choose organic, non-GMO, fair trade ingredients whenever possible to support communities and the environment. Examples include raw cane sugar grown by farmers in Paraguay and snow chrysanthemum flowers hand-picked and dried by the villagers of the Kunlun Mountains.

Local Ingredients

We always try to use locally produced ingredients to support the farmers in Hong Kong. Currently we use locally grown Ginger, Shiso and Beetroot.

Local Creatives & Artists

All the labels of our kombucha were designed by Hong Kong’s local artists. We hope that by promoting our brand, we are not only sharing a healthier lifestyle, but also helping to create a happier and friendlier world to live in.

Glass Recycling

With sustainability and dogs in mind, we collect returned bottles from our outlets, then clean, sanitise and reuse them. With every bottled returned by you, we donate $1 to a local dog charity.
